Denholm’s The name was Magic

Three galleries, 240 objects, and a uniquely Worcester experience are what you’ll find in Worcester Historical Museum’s newest exhibition Denholms, The Name was Magic.

A Worcester landmark, Denholms entertained and charmed generations of shoppers until its closing in 1974. It was Worcester’s top shopping destination, known for its high-end goods, Escal-Aires, elegant interior, iconic gold and white bags/boxes, and exemplary customer service. When it closed, it had been in business for 103 years.
Led by guest curator, community volunteer, and Denholms historian Christopher Sawyer and with support from Patricia Wolf (with whom Christopher co-authored Denholms: The Story of Worcester’s Premier Department Store), this one-of-a-kind exhibition will surely bring back memories for all.

Denholms related events and inspired merchandise items will be available throughout the duration of the exhibition, which will be on view at 30 Elm Street through March 2024.

Museum hours: Tuesday through Saturday 10AM – 4PM; 4th Thursday of the month Museum is open until 8:30PM.
